Built on real-world experience

prairie-photon was founded by a team of electrical engineers who spent years installing conventional solar systems before recognizing that mobile applications demanded an entirely different philosophy. Vibration, thermal cycling, space constraints, and variable loading patterns create challenges that residential installers never encounter.

Our first camper conversion taught us more than any textbook could. We discovered that off-the-shelf solutions rarely worked as advertised once the vehicle started moving. Cable routing that looked perfect in a static install would chafe through insulation after a few thousand miles. Battery mounts that seemed secure would loosen from road vibration. Charge controllers optimized for stationary arrays struggled with the shadowing patterns of moving vehicles.

Each installation since then has added to our knowledge base. We've learned which components can withstand the mechanical stress of travel, which wiring techniques prevent long-term failures, and how to design systems that remain serviceable when you're far from any workshop.

Today, we exclusively work on mobile power systems. Every member of our installation team has completed hundreds of camper conversions.
